Overview
Employers with 5 or more workers at a work site are required to establish a joint work site health and safety committee or in some cases a health and safety representative.
We provide support to employers who may not have the available internal resources to interpret the requirements and set up their health and safety committee, or to those want to bring in an independent company to support H&S culture change and reinforce the importance of compliance.
The initial stage BVS Canada take in HSC development is a short meeting to better understand your requirements. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about HSC’s and about the act and legislation in general.
Why Is a Health and Safety Committee Required?
All workers and employers are accountable for health and safety. HSCs and HS representatives form an important part of this internal responsibility system and further ensure that worksite parties are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the workplace.
The employer and /or prime contractor coordinates the establishment of an HSC or HS representative for the worksite. If there is no prime contractor, all employers and self-employed persons are collectively responsible to ensure that the appropriate HSC or HS representative is established.
